I just picked up an Estate Heatrola a couple of weeks ago. I plan on using it as temporary heat for a house we are restoring in the Southern Tier of NY.
I just noticed a hairline crack (1/8 to 1/4 inch) in the cast iron on the lower part of the stove. Can I use stove cement to patch this area?
There is also a gap where the tubes go up through the unit. I can use the cement here as well?
I can post some pics tonight.

Please post your pictures. Using furance cement to seal up gaps in the seams is one thing, but a cracked firepot is another. If the firepot itself is cracked, I would be weary of using the stove.
As for the gaps around the tube, I had the same problem on my old Heatrola and I sucessfully sealed around them with furnace cement.

The firepot is cracked, I wouldn't use the stove. The last thing you want is to get a hot coal fire going and have the firepot split and dump hot coals out the side.
