For me I ordered two K6 units one for myself and one for my neighbor. We each put 2500 down in July. Paid another 4100 for 24 tons of buckwheat put 3000 in a brand new building for the boiler and coal storage. Have not heard a word from the dealer or the factory I hope he is still in business. Just did not want to call him I wanted to see his consideration rate which I have not had any communication with at all so his rateing is -o-. Then paid another 1000 for nut coal to get through this winter. But after cutting splitting stacking wood for 30 years. I can be very patient. Will post pics soon. Brian (as far as I know the units are still ordered)

I got real lucky. I placed my order for a KAA-2 in early April 08 and had the unit at the dealers by June, just before the big rush of orders. Installed it in late September and have been just overjoyed with its performance and ease of maintenance. I will admit that I was somewhat amazed in the lack of quality and clarity in the installation and user manuals. Having said that, there must have been enough information for me to install it and get it running. :)

When did you order them ? I am in the same boat. I paid only 200 down, $3800 for 23.3 tons of buck/rice, 8x16 addition boiler/storage/future sunroom, (sunroom title was for the wifes motivation/help) $1000 for a used New Yorker boiler and $340 for 4 ton of pea/nut coal, and on and on. This venture look like a good idea when oil was headed for $5 a gal. Now at $2+ a gal. ? Called my dealer about my Kaa2 orderd June 18th Mon. no call backs yet. But hey, i learned how to hand fire a coal boiler!

I called the dealer to try to get information. He did not know anything different than we all have been hearing right along. Next I called the factory but no concrete date or time was provided.Yes they had the order, yes they had the model I requested on the dealer order form. All information was correct. That in itself was a good sign. They could only say that they were working hard at the orders with all available manpower. They come across as a solid company with a good product that just got caught in an avalanche, likeable folks. At this point I am not sure if I would rip into the system to put in a boiler in the middle of winter anyway. We have waited so long now that all I am beginning to become concerned about is that they get it right and with all the correct parts when it eventually leaves the factory.I rather believed since I placed the order that I would be cranking the 1 1/4 fittings together on the boiler at the same time I was plowing the garden for the peas.I am now beginning to gather all the locally purchased items necessary for the installation. So don't give up and cancel now ,you are too close and have a time investment in it too. regards, Mike

These are wise words. I finally installed a 20 year old KA-4 (thanks flyer5), and I love it! It's a heating machine so far. I don't see myself needing anything major for this thing for many years to come. I think any stoker boiler or auger boiler is worth the wait at this point! Don't give up! Oil will go back up, be prepared!

Oh and the power went out for 1.5 hours while I was at work, when I came home the fire was still going

Sorry I took so long to get back to you efo141. I've been in the basment hooking up the VF 3000. I did get all my money back from my dealer. I paid $4400.00 for the VF 3000 up a little from this spring when I priced it at $3900.00 but at least I have one now could'nt get one this spring I tried. All I need to do now is to figure out how to make the high limit dump open my basment zone valve.

Taking orders you cannot fill is irresponsible. Not admitting it to waiting customers is unacceptable. Lying in November about an order placed in June is fraudulent.

Kenbod, do you have a crystal ball?? can you tell the future?? Well nobody has one, Keystoker or Harman, or any other coal appliance maker..

Keystoker has dozens of units ready to deliver,, but they are waiting for motors for stoker units and combustion fans.. Do you think they knew that there would be a shortage of electric motors??

Keystoker also reached a limit on their electic service for their factory,, they tried to increase production, then found out that they couldn't keep all the welders runing, the electric service was at it's limits..

ALL the manufacturers have had supply problems and got overloaded with orders.. even the most communicative folks have had plenty of people waiting impatiently for their stoves and boilers.. There are only so many hours in a day, and only so many people that can work in a give space and get trained to do a proper job...

When you get a whole year's worth of orders in a one or two day period of time, it is pretty difficult to predict what will happen when you try to tripple or quadruple your factory output.. many unforseen propblems arise..

I just talked with my local Keystoker dealer about a KA6 and KB8. If I ordered them now and put a down payment down, I could have them for delivery the 2nd week of July 2009.

Something to think about? I could pickup a good used boiler for less and have it installed by then.

Any thoughts?

Do you really think "2nd week of July" is a reliable estimate? Dealer says 7 months out while people are still waiting on stuff ordered 8 months prior with no delivery date in sight :?:
