How do you count the teeth setting?

How do you count the teeth setting?

PostBy: Normy On: Fri Jan 02, 2009 10:31 pm

Hi,

The 520 is almost done setting up, all the electrical and a draft inducer are some of the final things, I was reading the online manual and trying to understand how to count the teeth settings.

There is the "blue pall" on the left and the other pall on the right. This pall can ride on the "thin curved plate" that is adjusted with the thumbscrew. I understand the moving the thin plate left or right is what makes the teeth change setting.

But can someone explain how to really understand it? Count the number of clicks, but which clicks, the blue or other?

Thanks

The blue pawl on the left as you face it from the stoker side is the drive pawl. The other pawl is the feed rate retainer which keeps the pawl from free-wheeling and not advancing the auger. Gently hold a finger down on the drive pawl(blue) and note the number of clicks per stroke on the gear's teeth. It takes a few seconds to make sure. You are probably running it with 5 or 6 clicks in this cold weather, and the air damper is somewhere between 4.5 and 5.5

The guy in the EFM shop showed me an easier way. Make sure the power is off and just reach in and turn the fan with your finger while holding down the pawl. The one that rides over the thin curved plate. You can see the teeth defineately click and make positive adjustments to make sure you are getting full teeth contact. :) Scott

I have a light switch and I flip it to count them.

Lets see if this works.

That's 6 teeth. The blue pawl is the check pawl, the unpainted one is the drive pawl.
