I have a alaska channing stove it started making a shrieking noise, not loud , but getting progressively worse. Sounds like its in the hopper. Can I oil it somewhere? Thanks

First I would give all the motors 3 or 4 drops of oil. See if that helps. Second it could be coal fines trapped below , on top or the sides of the push plate grinding away. Could be a bad motor bearing. I would try the first 2 , then if they don't help , try to narrow the noise to a motor. Try touching the motor or pushing on it. Could just be loose.

I don't think the Channing III has a push plate - the one I had had the paddle-type pusher. I had a noise similar to what you describe that turned out to be the combustion air fan going bad. If that's it, it's very easy to replace (like 2 bolts), and the part is cheap (around $35).

The paddle shaft has a grease fitting on it, but I doubt that is the cause of the noise, unplug each one and you will figure it out quickly, this is a very simple stove to work on.

You should give the motors couple drops every month if the stove is running 24/7. Glad you fixed the problem. :D
