Hi, I am happy to say I got my recently delivered Alaska Hearth up and running- well worth the inconvenience of a disliked but understood, hopefully short lived, manufacturer QC problem!!

My feed is on a timer and I have noticed that when the feed is on 4 the coal "pretty much" burns down to ash, however when it is on 2, I have quite a bit more of partially spent coal in the ash pan. My question is, is this normal?

would adjusting the combustion blower speed (if possible) burn the setting 2 coal hotter- or do you mean the temp inside the stove?

Yours might adjust the coal speed and combustion speed together (TriBurner setup?) if so, they turning it up would increase the blower speed and burn better. Many have re-wired them so the Combustion Blower runs FULL Speed (directly into an outlet) and you get a much better burn regardless of your speed/feed rate.

it turns out that I have full all of the time and it is not pushing any hot coal off of the grate!? I will dig a little more and see if maybe I have overlooked the consistency of the high rate ash pan remains- possibly if its weight drops it more so to the bottom of the pan... I don't know but it seems that there is more partially spent at the slower feed rate
