What should the Temp on my stove top be?? What is too hot?? With my damper holes wide open it gets to be about 350-375.
I have the temp gage to the right of the hopper. My house is 1400 sf. and at times it seems its hard to heat the far rooms.

What/where are you measuring your temps? On the stove itself, pipe? etc...Do you have a baro damper, if so, is it calibrated correctly. You could be loosing a lot of heat up your chimney if not.

Do a search on Stove temperatures, that is not too hot, that's about average, some can run up to 400-500+ degrees. I have had my stoker up to that range before when's it really cold outside.

You may have to get a fan or something to move the warm air to the farthest rooms.

That's about a normal operating temp for mine when it's going good. I've had it up to 450 during the ice storm/power outage. The only time I got uncomfortable was when it hit 475, didn't feel right so I closed things down a bit. I have a temp guage in the same spot as you.

Hi,

I have my magnetic thermometer in the same spot as you, to the right of the hopper. Normally I operate at a temp of 275*, when I have it cranking, it goes up to 375*. I don’t like to push the unit any harder then I have to. I’m heating a 2,100 sq ft 2 floor home in central CT no problem.

Tom
