Its the iron content, that's some strong ash!

Doug had the 01 MXZ 800 up to 123 mph (radar gun) before I sold it two years ago. I more enjoy thrashing through the trails at night so you can see if anyone is coming. ;)

If you had direct drive on the ashing shaft, would you think the temp on the anthrastat would have to set lower? Maybe just a little bit. My thinking is that if you are running on the timer every half hour and its at 139, you have to wait a 1/2 hour to ash. That half hour comes, begins to ash, runs 1 minute, stops. It's always possible it wasn't quite done ashing. I think the anthrastat would handle the load of a small rpm motor by itself. That solenoid it controls must draw about 1 amp. I don't know how fast the anthrastat reacts, but i'm sure the motor could be run by a plc of some sort which would check the temp, run the motor a specified time if needed, wait a specified amount of time, check temp, run the motor again, until you reached set point. Then a delay if wanted before it queries the temp again. A Coaltrol for the AA130 hhhmmm. According to demand, you can have the ash temp higher if really needed to build a deeper fire. Could there be a spare input on the Coaltrol? Fan motor, feed motor, ,ashing motor, now that would be nice but getting away from the original simple setup.

Just take the Fuju off the AHS and use their thermocouple, I have not really looked into their control scheme, but IMO that would be able to directly control the ash temp and perform constant ashing via AHS. After all that is how their version of a hopper fed boiler works, and works well from what I have heard. :)

I have been talking with the folks at Automation Correct about a little science project to maybe resurrect their ideas for a boiler control.... so far no time to pursue. Maybe thus summer when the unit is running the DHW only. ;)

You can get a Fugi on eBay for $65 anytime. Couple it with a $25 relay, job done. But,,, I'm not getting away from the auger, I love the automaticness!

During my test I checked it often at first, but came to ash it once each 3 hours.
