Mayor of Baltimore indicted!

Mayor of Baltimore, Sheila Dixon has been indicted for perjury, theft, fraud in a 31 page 12 count indictment. This is the culmination of a 2 year investigation.

There seems to be glaring but not surprising omission from that article that an astute reader might want to know.

I'll bite.

I had to search the internet to determine her party affiliation.

Main stream media would never take sides on party lines.

This must have been an honest omission.

Any corrupt official deserves to be jailed but this appears to be another politically motivated misuse of OUR Justice Dept! (& deserves an investigation itself as to who chose the targets & why, as soon as the new Atty General takes office)

My favorite is the democrat Jefferson from New Orleans who was under investigation for money laundering and turned up with $100,000 in cash in his freezer. I bet those scanky rich republicans put it there just to get him in trouble!! Same guys that padlocked all those school buses so democrat mayor Ray Nagin couldn't get the folks out ahead of Katrina

It's possible that this is just coincidence, but if I was the new Atty General on 1/21/2009 I would want to look into:
1. Who started these investigations? (over 2 years ago)
2. Was there any political guidance given &, if so, by whom? (sounds like this was started when Al Gonzales was AG)
3. What criteria was used for target selection?

Here she is last summer going for a jog while her home is searched and boxes of documents and other items were removed.

First they'll blame republicans and then she'll play the race card. Don't get too worked up about this one Devil, she's probably going to be convicted.

I live in an all democrat county. The feds are investigating. This wasn't initiated on the behalf of the republican party. The fact is the county is run by a bunch of blatantly corrupt thieves who happen to belong to the Democratic party. Corrupt politicians come in both genders, all colors and from both parties. I think it's time some of these corrupt politicians are executed for treason against the American people. Guaranteed that would cut down on corruption ten fold.

It is pretty obvious it is politically driven, after all politicians are involved!!!

I believe the state prosecutor is a state level appointment/office, not federal. So any "encouragement" probably came from the governors office, not Gonzales.

I agree completely, but I just don't feel comfortable with Alberto Gonzales's Justice Dept initiating these investigations without having some serious questions answered. I think any prudent citizen should not take anything this administration says as true, without verification.
Any corrupt politician is a sleazeball & deserves prison time. I just want to make sure that the motivations for these investigations was non-partisan.

Well, because of the Constitution, all parties will get a chance to tell their stories to the judge. So even with the worst
intentions, it still has to go before a judge and jury. Ya Ya, they can fire judges, but not quickly.
