I saw that video. But then I thought that cement couldn't be good for the stove.

Seems to me its such a small amount of cement as compared to the other ingredients that it would just turn to powder when the coal brick is burned.. Thats just my best guess, I'm excited to see how it turns out 8-)

Try using Corn Starch as a binder. I have and it has worked very well. The corn starch holds the fines together very well and the "coal balls" I have made and burned have done very well in the Jr. Waste not want not I say.

I'm curious too. But I'd of found a different binding agent. :-)

I just kind of scoop my fines up with the coal and put them in the fire.

Here is my 1st 3 batches of "fine" bricks

I made 3 batches yesterday, I think the coal weather isn't helping the drying process. This may have to be a spring job...

I'll keep you posted...

Well, I checked the "bricks" today, and well I either I didn't use enough cement or it wasn't warm enough for the cement to cure.

I made a mess, they all crumbled when I went to pick them all up.

Back to the drawing board. I am going to wait till it gets warmer out and let the Sun help "cook" them.

I wish it would have worked for you Dan, I'm interested to see how your next batch turns out. Like baking a cake, I guess you have to have the correct portions and I'm sure you will get it .
