New Chimney ?
Hi Newbie here just got my coal stove now I have to install a ss chimney. I am putting it in the basement. I have to come out 2 feet underground level and then go up the side of the house next to my existing chimney for my oil burner. I think I can come through the concrete with just a piece of pipe and then if I understand correctly I have to put in a clean out tee but then it would be below ground level. Do I make a box for this or do I come out with an elbow and then maybe 2 feet or so off the ground put in a cleanout tee. Tried to search everything on chimney but came up short on answers. thanks in advance Ed

Ed,
First off, what did you buy and what are you trying to heat (S.F. ?)
Have you considered running your stove into the existing chimney and installing a power vent for your oil burner ??? The P.V. can be wired to run only when the oil burner fires thus eliminating the need for a complete ss chimney.

The SS chimney could be mounted on a block and tile base or you could build a window well that would give you access to the base and clean out tee.
A chat with the building inspector before you begin would be a good idea to see what he/she would want.
The power vent for the current oil burner would also be an option.

A good idea and definitely worth considering.Have you considered running your stove into the existing chimney and installing a power vent for your oil burner ???
It is a Victory 700 stove like new capable of 60,000 BTU per hr can hear approx 2000 -2500 sq ft. I plan to heat the basement and hopefully reap some rewards by getting the first floor heated as well. Half of the basement is finished and the other half just concrete walls.I probably could heat the whole house if I plan some ductwork to circulate the heat from the basement have read some of the articles here and this is a very informative site. Thanks everyone One thing at a time first get the chimney then work on heat distribution . BTW there is no cleanout on my exising chimney just a pipe going thru the wall and then connected to the boiler with els and fittings. To clean it out take out the pipe and stick in a vacuum or brush it out then put back together.
