Any drawback? My 160 built in April 08? How can you tell if it's running hot? Shuts down to hot?
Reason I'm asking so much ( If it ain't broke don't fix it. )
THANK'S

The drawback to making this adjustment is that there is less range of speed control available. The adjustment moves the minimum convection fan speed up quite a bit, which is necessary to maintain proper cooling.
There is no way to tell if you're having the problem short of measuring the temperature of the convection motor while it has been running at the too slow speed for a while. Which is why we recommend this adjustment to all Koker with Coal-trol owners for this past year.

My question is. If I order a new Koker, can I get it with a coal-trol? And is it set up from the factory ready to go?

I'm pretty sure you can order them from the factory in a "bare" configuration, so you can install Coal-trol yourself without much hassle. I'm not sure if they have started shipping Koker's with Coal-trol's from the factory again or not. The best information on that question will come from Keystoker directly, if you're interested in buying a unit from them you should definitely give them a call and ask.

Will you guys be making changes to your product to work correctly with the Koker unit? If so when? Also is Keystoker on board? You have a great product but I want it factory installed and dialed in fairly close. Thanks

The change in the CFM setting is the fix for this problem. This makes sure the motor is run fast enough to provide adequate self cooling. Keystoker is aware of the change, but as far as I know Keystoker has not yet resumed offering the Coal-trol as factory installed on the Koker and I do not know when this will change. If you have an order in already or are planning to order, you are, of course, free to ask them if they'll accept a special option order for it or when it will become available again.
And when we find out that they're offering it again we'll be sure to announce it here.

I was one of the first to have this problem. My Dealer was useless!! So was keystoker. But the guys at Automation Correct LLC stood behind their product and sent me a fan limit switch. You wire it to your convection blower and it sits in your plenum or the inside of the stove. It works great and no more convection fan over-heating. But my coal-trol runs the rest of my stove.
This is by far the BEST way when your convection fan is pulling 5 amps! It is the replacement they gave me when my original seized up. The original was 4 amps but they stopped making them.
I am going to be completely honest I would never by another keystoker (that’s just my opinion). I would buy a Harman much better built and engineered.

As explained by Paul V. previously, we have determined the issue with the blower. We are glad that the fan limit is working well for you. It was unfortunate that you were the one to initially experience the problem. In fairness to Keystoker, together we worked to understand and resolve the issue. As we are the electrical guys, it was only natural for the resolution to come from us. That is our job, and we appreciate your kind words on the service we provided.extreme915 wrote:I was one of the first to have this problem...
If, however your problem concerned the mechanicals of the stove, Keystoker I'm certain would likewise step up to help you out.
As jrn8265 said, ".. the Koker is built like a tank".
