Hot Air Coal Stoker Furnace: Leisure Line Hearth with twin turbos (sounds like it)

Said he won't be stopping by for automatic delivery anymore. Apparently, the 70 gallons he delivered for the last 6 months isn't enough to justify the trip.

I do believe that this is a good thing!

Geez, what a snotty oil man. My guy brought 15 gallons over 12 months and didn't cut me off. Or he just didn't bother telling me. The 23 tons of coal he had to walk past to get to the oil tank fill probably made an impression anyway.

I don't blame the guy for cutting you off, depending on his route delivering just a few gallons might even be costing him money. I had a "soft" two ton minimum for coal, if they wanted one ton I'd tell them call me at least 2 or 3 weeks in advance and be ready to take delivery at any time even if I couldn't get a hold of them to schedule it. The only time that was worth it was if you had the space and were going to the same area.

I shut my oil deliveries off last summer, but, I have to admit, a few times I have used the oil in the garage to boost the temp. It has a .5 gallon per hour nozzle. I'll bet I've used 1 1/2, maybe 2 gallons by now. It has a 138 gallon tank so if this rate keeps up I'll have to fill it once each 46 years. :)

That's good but.....

Around our parts, if you're on auto delivery and they come and get less than a pre-set quanity, you are presented with a 25 - 50.00 charge on top of the product cost.
My min. delivery is/was 150 gal. I did call and get off the auto. del.
I can't believe some Co. would come mulitple times and only get a few gals... I don't doubt what you say, it just wouldn't happen in my area.

2.59 still seems high. Heating Oil futures ( 1 month out) are trading @ 1.50 a gallon to which you add about .60 of overhead. Oil should only be in the $2.10 to $2.25 range. in fact looking at the charts the future haven't been above about 1.65 since the end of October. Sounds like the oil men are still trying to sell some ofthat expensive stuff they stockpiled earlier in the year.....

I didn't say they came multiple times. They came once back in the early fall and delivered 135 gallons, then again the other day. The do have a minimum 150 gallon delivery and I knew this was coming...just thought it was neat to get the call and know I'm not shackled to the oil man anymore!

I took myself off auto delivery in the middle of December.

While I was scheduling the chimney mason to come over I noticed the tank was really low. I got nervous and called to have 100 gallons delivered for $1.99/gallon. (100 gal minimum). I had the coal boiler running 2 days later.

Oil is my DHW and baseboard backup with multizones.

It burns 80ish gallons year. I just had 150 gallons put in it 2 days ago at $2.49 a gallon. My parents 3 hrs away got some (they use it in emergency) for 1.99/gallon. WTF. 10 places out here.. they ranged 2.50/gallon - 2.99/gallon.

Oh well. 150 gallons = enough oil for 1.5-2 yrs. I have coworkers filling their 250 gallon tanks almost every month this winter! Frig that!
