Hot Air Coal Stoker Stove: Alaska Kodiak Stokerstove 1

Can only comment on what I have - an Alaska Kodiak Stokerstove I. The combustion fan and motor run constantly. They can be controlled by a rheostat to slow them down but they still run constantly.

Only the Channing III, Liberty, cast console II, cast console III, and 140 paddle fed have the seperate combustion blower and feed motors on them. The rest are all tri-burner design where one motor turns the combustion fan and coal feed.

My Kodiak stokerstove I has separate motors for the feed and combustion blower. I didn't buy it new so I don't know if it was modified or not but there is a Dayton squirrel cage combustion blower and a small motor to drive the carpet feed.

Thanks for the info. I was looking at a cast console II and wanted to know if it had seperate motors. Can you spot the low BTU models by the width of the stoker bed? Thanks, Ed

Alaska lists the max BTU of their stoves on their website. I don't recall if they list the minimum. not sure about the grate sizes or burn area differences
