At $1.59 a gal for #2 and 290 per ton for coal, the cost per million BTU would be about the same for me. I just got 100 gallons last week for $2.49 a gal. What a rip-off!!!

KLook wrote:Getting back to the topic, I had -15 this morning and it is supposedto be colder tonight. Oh, I am in the same boat with the coal. Lots of coal and no stove. :(

I feel your pain Kevin!!

Freddy wrote:But...but... right now is the price is more than I prepaid last year. The reason I turned to coal was that the price I paid last year was way too much!

You're right Freddy. That's why I wanted to switch to coal also. Prepay 07/08 was $2.34 in this area.

Back on topic.............. it's -19*, right now, @ 12:07 am.

Low for the night Minus 21.6. Strangely I used more coal during the last 24 hours than the night it was minus 29.

Did your local oil delivery truck even slow down while passing your house?

Nope...

I made sure (after they tried real hard to rip me off) that they erase any and all evidence of my existence from their computers, paperwork etc. They even did a memory wipe of their truck drivers... I heard the one say the other day as he passed..."hey! When did they build that house?"

So it seems that staying on topic is pretty important lately...

Given all the responses to the original question, How many think their weather is...

a. typical of the recent or distant past
b. warmer than recent or distant past
c. colder than recent or distant past

I would say that in central/wester pa where I grew up the amount of snow this year is similar to what I remember as a kid in the late 70's/80's, maybe a little less. In the last 10 years the winters have not been notable until this year. In Gettysburg, I've heard much discussion about the weather and the colder temps and seem to spur discussions about freezes and blizzards from the past and how they compare. Not much snow here this year though.

We don’t have the extreme cold that many of you do but we do have a “Winter Storm Warning in effect until noon today... Light freezing rain and freezing drizzle will continue across the Washington metropolitan area into the early morning. “ It was 30* at 4am but the schools are closed due to the ice; the buses can’t move. It’s a good day to curl up in front of the Harman and watch the world not go by my window for another day. Lisa

Spring must be getting closer, it stayed above zero last night. Two degrees! Woohoooo!

Poor deer, that's a tough path to follow.
