I am the new owner of a alaska channing 3. It vents straight up through the roof (is that called "direct vent"?). I have a baro and it is running great! I've read that I really should have a manometer to set the draft properly. I have seen manometers that have long probes mounted from the nearest wall and into the stove pipe. my stove is located in our living room and I don't thing the wife would like the look of it all. Is there a more discrete way to use a manometer? THANKS

Well if you stove has pipe going to a chimney it would be natural draft. If there is a motor "pushing" the exaust out usually through a wall it would be direct vent. So I believe sounds like you are hooked to a chimney using natural draft. The monometer doesn't have to stay hooked up. Set the draft correctly and the monometer doesn't have to stay connected, but you could hide it behind the stove somewhere if you wanted to. Dywer 25 is the model you want. search all the threads on monometer or draft guage. I think there is alot of pictures how and where people have mounted them.
