Al, I'm also thinking of getting one for my mag stoker. Have been looking at their web site. Need one with 4 settings per day as the house sits empty during the day. Also would want the option of the igniter when that comes out, seems that would be just the ticket for the cool fall nights. I will also be waiting Coal-trol's reply. Jimmy

As far as I know we still haven't done any "official" testing on a Harman Mag Stoker. I did a search and found a thread where Neil said we had been plugged into a Harman stove and run, but it was not burning at the time. I'm checking to see if we know of any customers that have bought a unit for a Harman stove and will report what I find out in a day or two (checking with some dealers).

However, we're very confident Coal-Trol Digital will work with the Harman Mag Stoker stove. From the thread I mentioned before Neil said that the Harman stoves have plug cords on the motors so installation and hookup should be very easy. And we do offer a return period. If you aren't satisfied with the product you can return it for a full refund within 30 days (call us first to get an RMA and to make sure there isn't something we can help you with first). This goes for units bought direct from Automation Correct only. Dealers and OEMs have their own rules for returns, inquire with them for their policies.

thats great...get back to us...Jimmy and myself were very interested in one last year...but there was no actual info showing it was working to par on the Mag Stoker....

Yes..the control box on the Mag looks like your control box..all fans and motors plug into it....

I called Neil last winter...and discussed the use on the Mag..he said it should work..but has not tried it at the time of talking to him....

I would like a definate YES..it works...and does a good job..lol.....

Thanks

Just wanted to update anyone considering using a Coal-Trol Digital thermostat system on their Harman Mag Stoker stove, we have found a stove dealer that will be testing our control on a mag stoker very soon (we've already sent the unit out to him, hopefully start testing by early next week). When we have results we'll report them here.

The thermostat is in the guys hands. I'll find out tonight if there's been any progress on testing. My guess is that the earliest we'll find out anything is this weekend some time.

any reports on how this is working out....and if the setup hooked up ok and has been calibrated to the heat demand on the feeder end.. ..I am more curious to see it used in real life setup...24/7 and as a primary heat source..... to maintain a comfort enviorment in a home type situation...

First report on Coal-trol with Harman

PostBy: nwaelder On: Mon Nov 13, 2006 1:42 pm

I just got a report this morning on the Harman testing.

Firstly, there was some delay in getting the control installed because our tester was assisting his wife, who had surgery... (all is well with the surgery).

The Coal-trol was installed on Thursday, 11/9 and I assisted (by phone) in setting the minimum and maximum feed rates along with the stroke adjustment.

The Coal-trol Control Module was attached to the same bracket holding the Harman control box. All motor cords easily reached the outlets on the Coal-trol Digital.

The report so far is that it is working as intended: excellent temperature control, and good convection blower behavior.

The minimum fire is so low (a 1/4 moon shaped fire less than the width of the grate) that I expressed concern about adequate draft. The tester remined me that he has a chimney with draft inducer, so a very small fire should be OK.

The weather in south central PA has been quite warm. so we will let it go for a week or two more before reporting "final" results.

At that time we will have pictures of the installation and will pubish details on intallation recommendations and thermostat one-time settings for Harman.

Thanks for your continued interest.
