Bad Economy-Stove Sales

In the late summer and early fall 2008 you could barely find a stove or had to go on a list and wait for the stove you wanted. Have things changed with the economy getting worse and oil prices at a lower level than last year? If you were waiting for a stove right now would you take your name off the list or would you consider your stove an investment and still take delivery in these uncertain times?

Buy the stove, energy is on the rise again. As far as being on a list......not sure if you really need too. Call around,
you may find one.

Last I checked there was still a wait, at least for most [well built] coal stoves. I personally see it as an investment of sorts. I don't know how much my stove has saved me over the years but I know it's in the thousands of $$. Have not used anything other than the Harman MK II to heat my home with for 16 years. I paid $700.00 for the stove when I bought it. I replaced the door gaskets once and the blower once. At this point I'd probably just wait unless I found one somewhere else at a decent price. I'd definitely buy another, especially now.

Me too! My original motivation to heat with coal was better quality, consistent heat, rather than the forced hot air system my home came with. I still like coal heat better & the money savings is just a very nice added benefit.
