I finally made it out ice fishing with the boy today. I forgot my camera so I have no pics. But he skunked me! We were in the same shanty and he caught 4 nice brook trout all 16" or so and I got a big nothing. We had a heck of a good time.

Sounds like the student has become the teacher.
Isn't it great to see your son do better than you?
Glad to hear you had the day out that you've been looking forward to for so long!

Go for it ,take that kid every time you possibly can.The beautiful trout will be gone after one hot fry pan gets done with them. The memory [and a picture] will last a very long time. With the kid it could last a lot longer than we know. Mike

Ice fishing! I went one time. Spent four hours chopping a hole in the ice big enough to put the boat in and then was too tired to fish. Never again. :P

Ok, we went back out to the same lake today to catch some more trout. No Cap it was not Lake Arthur but we do fish Arthur quite a bit.
I got to redeem myself. I caught 9 today and the boy caught 5 today. We did bring one home to smoke. This is a little bigger than what the others we caught were but not much. The boy had a riot getting this one worked up the hole and into the shanty.

edit: by the way, when we left this morning it was -7* outside. When I drilled through the ice the water (35*) was steaming.

Nice fish! Congrats to you and the boy! You're both tougher than me to sit out there on the ice. :)
