Hi Bob, welcome to the forum. Is coke the same as bit coal?
Do you have to add wood every morning to revive the fire or just occasionally?

Coke is carbonizes coal. Coke is to coal as charcoal is to wood. Any time the coke fire got low but still burning your better off to throw on some wood before you add the coke or you just might put out the coke fire completely. As hot as the coke burns it sure can go out quick when smothered.

I could be full of bologna but I thought coke was made by heating bit coal to remove impurities, leaving mostly carbon.
