Vent question

We have an Alaksa stoker with a top vent. Can this be direct vented?

Someone can correct me, but I think the top vent needs to be power vented. The direct vents go on the rear vented ones.
(I have an Alaska Channing III with top vent & power vent.)
The power vent unit seems to cost about $50 more than the direct vent. It still just goes right out the wall, just a little higher up.
