Baro Question

My baro is located one foot away from the top vent of my stove.

If I set the baro how does that equate to the draft over the fire?

Meaning, if I have it set to .04 and the baro is steadily open does that mean I actually have .04 over my fire? or less?

The baro should be as close to the chimney as possible. Did you use a manomometer to set it?
Yes, if it's set for .04 and the baro is partly open, the stove is staying at .04. If the baro opens more, the stove still stays at .04. If the baro is shut then the stove might have less than desired.

It can actually be mounted anywhere, but at min 18" from the stove. But like Freddy Said, the Setting on the Baro are only approx values, you really need a draft gauge to Accurately set it up. It will be close, but always good to check it.

I had the baro set for .04 last night....had some wind....noticed the baro flapping around....guess this indicates good draft from my chimney?

That';s what it should do, when the wind blows, it creates more suction in your chimney and the baro will open (and/or Flutter) to compensate for the increased draft, thus maintaining a constant draft on the stove.....

I was just happy to see the baro moving as I thought I may have draft problems but maybe not if I am seeing above .04.
