Ok,

I have a question about getting coal delivered to a bin that I plan to build in my basement. The truck should not have any problem getting to the window (as you can see in the drawing), but I'm worried about what he has to do to get the coal into the basement bin. I have a flip up window that is well suited for getting a chute in. THe driver will have to back into the yard, but won't be able to turn the truck to have the back end face the window. Do the chutes rotate at all?

Also, assuming that this can done, how far does the chute extend into the basement? Are there extensions that can insure that the coal is dumped into the bin. I guess I'm a little nervous about having the coal shoot past the bin and cover the basement floor past the bin. I'm asking this because it will determine how I will build my bin. I am new to coal and will be using it for the 1st time this season.

Thanks

If it's coal guy he'll be able to do it easily, coal trucks are made so you can go at any angle. I've shot coal at more than a right angle actually going towards the front of the truck slightly, it was a muddy yard and I the situation would have just gotten worse if I tried to reposition.

For ground basmenets window I can dribble it in or fill it right up to the rafters 6 or 7 feet in... that's without going into the house. :) The chutes telescope so they can be used for any distance. If the guy has any experience and the proper equipment he should have no problem doing what you want.

It's doable, a coal lman will have a short chute that tapers to about 8 inches like a funnel. Standard size chute is the width of a cinderblock.
