I have some pieces that look like that but they are made from fines dust squeezing between the pusher block and the housing and drying into a flake. My boiler is running like crap due to wet coal. The pusher is easy to pull out, just remove the 3 bolts holding the pusher motor in place, pull the motor out of the way, then pull out the pusher block. Just be sure the hopper is empty. You won't even have to let the fire go out. Take some pics and post it. My pusher was all gummed up as was the slot it slides in.
These are solid pcs. I get what you mean but these are definitely the result of compressed dust. I had wet coal issues in the beginning of the season. At this point I'm running dry coal. I'm going to finish the season then take it apart and see whats going in in there.
thx

Heres a pic of my fines tray. It contains all the fines for February and March. Yep, 38 days worth.

I am now wondering if a nut or bolt was dropped into your hopper , while it was being built in the plant. :woot:
When you take out the pusher bar, make sure you show the dealer if it is damaged or deformed. They SHOULD replace it under warentee. If not, I would goto another dealer. Or mail it to me! I'll take it to my local dealer, and request a new one for you.

Wow! After 15 days, I have a half full tray that looks lie my original pics. 38 days? I'd be overflowing struggling to get the tray out! I get the theory of how the pusher block works but I don't get the real mechanics behind it and why there would be this type of issue. I imagine the block that travels back and forth in a sleeve with tight all around tolerances. The block is pulled back, coal drops in front of the block, block moves forward, colas get pushed up to tray, process repeats. what can go wrong? What if a nut or something fell in there? I don't see how it would do anything but fall in front of the block?

Anyway, thanks for the offer ! I'll let you know when I pull it out of there.... BTW (Great post about the Inverter !)
