Better get the beast fired, gonna be -17 tonight in the Ft Kent area. Global warming is really having an effect on the weather near the border. The spring thaw won't begin until July 4th. Ice out by Aug 1st. Poor planting season......blah, blah, blah.

At least the oil delivery man has had an opportunity to be your buddy for most of the winter.
PS: How do you like racin' up there on an oval with 6" of ice? I know, the 6 feet of snow on the stands protects the drivers. Thank God the cars are about 130 degrees inside of them, poor pit crew has hypothermia!

I HAVE FIRE!!!!!!!!! :dancing: :band:   Just a couple of cosmetic things left to do (box cover and switch cover). First fire at 6:47 pm. I'll get up around 2 am to see how everything is running. The only problem so far is that the rope gasket, around the fire, door is coming off. Here are some more pics.

Looks like you got it, nice job. Looks like it's my turn now. My dealer called today and said my boiler was shipped and should be here in a few days. I am still in shock.

I can feel the heat from here! Looks like she is not even running hard. I thought keystoker used a flat grate? Or is that
only on the stoves? Nice job, stay warm. :verycool:

The grates are at an angle.

I remember the first few weeks always checking the boiler and waiting for something to happen, never did :P Now every couple days I just empty the ashes, fill the hopper and enjoy the heat :punk:

WOOOHOOOO!! Time to do the happy dance! Ohhhh, yes, you did it! Yup, you should check it every two to four hours the first day, then two to four times a day for a week, then two to four times a week after that. Heheeee! I'm so happy for you. Nice looking installation.

Thanks guys! It was -9* last night with -30* wind chill. I got up at 2 am to check the boiler. Temp was at 180*. :D I went to check it again at 6 am. Temp was at 200*. It had warmed up a bit outside (1* and no more wind chill). The inital set-up on the timer was 5 pins every 15 minutes. I removed 6 pins off the timer, moved the red nut back 2 turns, and at 8:30 the temp was at 160. I added a couple of more pins and turned the red nut up 1 turn. I'll see what this does. I'd like to keep the boiler at around 170*-180*. It's a learning curve. I'm glad I'm off today. I'll check it every couple of hours. I burned approx 40lbs of coal in 13 hours. I should burn about 70lbs in 24 hours, about $12 worth. :) I think this is great!!!

Did you push the yellow button? Turn the red knob in two turns, push the yellow button, add 4 more pins & before you know it the timer will go off and the potato soup will feed 17. It's a wonder machine!

I don't think it'll take long to get it dialed in. It's fun to fiddle with them, but the fact is it won't be long before you don't have to do much work at all. Oh look! You're bin is shrinking! Oh look! Your wallet is happy!

The timer pins really don't matter much in the winter, the boilers running so much to keep the coal going, It's more for warmer weather. I've got my aqua stat set at 160/180, diff at 15, red nut 10-12 turns out and the small fan plate about 1/2 open, main stoker air about 1" open and that maintains a temp of 170-180. You kicked a** on the install, nice job,now enjoy the cheap heat

Bob, did you get a cot and sleep beside it last night? I'm not buying that balony about checking every two hours......Any more often than 2 hrs is considered "playing with it"! You will go blind before spring, and your 'Cindy" will be your master!

Well worth the wait....now for all the screamers, just relax, 'good things come to those who wait'!!
