Richard--

I really like the new format. Great work!

Why is it kids, especially boys are always so interested in trucks, motorcycles, boats, etc.? My son would love climbing in that truck too. He always likes making the Saturday coal runs to the yard.

That's my nephew, BTW that truck isn't really old, just looks it. It's a '86 Mercedes 1117 Turbo Diesel. If I can keep the body from falling off it I'll have it for another 20 years. Runs like a clock, just really expensive when something breaks. Just as an example the break chambers (those round things that look like a coffee can on a truck axle) cost about $50 on my International. Just a mere $550 on the Mercedes. :x

Richard--

Have you been able to find an OEM mail order house for the MB parts? I have have a '84 300 oil burner with 220k on the clock. I do all my own repairs. I buy almost all of my parts thru mail order for at least 40-50% less than parts with the MB Star. And my 617.952 MB 5 cylinder turbodiesel also runs like a clock. This is my 4th MB oil burner.

No I have to purchase everthing through Freightliner, I can't find another source. I can't even find one in the junkyard. Fortunately they have had everthing in stock I've needed. Usually at the front door in 3 to 5 days. :)

I've made two small changes, when replying to a PM you'll find a copy of the PM you are replying too below the reply textbox. This is one of those things I've often found a little annoying myself.

Posts will only be editable for 4 hours after you make it. If for any reason you have something that needs editing let me know and I'll edit it for you. Please no requests for spelling mistakes, use a spellchecker like Iespell. Personally I use the one on the Google toolbar.

Hi Richard,

I'm glad that it is at least 24 hours. I often reread my posts and discover an embarassing misspell or word swap days later.

The problem with spell checkers is that they can't tell the difference for example, between form, and from. Which for some reason my fingers just can't type from without at least 50% of the time coming up with form. GRRR.

I guess I have dyslexic fingers.

Does having unlimited time to edit post use up bandwidth or slow things down or????? I can't see why you would want to limit it at all.

Except if this was one of those sites where everybody is an A$$. And they want to go back and change there stand on some issue thye were spouting off about. Which thankfully this site isn't like that.

I frequent a few forums and have come across at least two posts where I have posted information then the OP edited the original question. One response was quite lengthy. Kind of useless

I'm more concerned about editing of older posts that I may never see. I'm trying to advance this site in the search engines and if someone had the know how they could sabotage a site quite easily. Simply going to an older posts and adding a bunch of f-bombs and links to sexually explicit sites can have an adverse affect on rankings. That page may never be read by a human again but you can bet the Search Engines will visit it again.

I'm aware the possibilities of someone doing that are minimal but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I can increase the length of time even more if you think that's not enough.

Small addition, long URL's will be automatically shortened when you paste them directly. :)
