Temps were 15 degrees last night and 25 degrees yesterday, burned 85 lbs of rice in one day to keep the house at 70 degrees (house is about 2000sf)

Does this sound right? Seems high to me.

I am concerned at this rate I'll be blowing through my coal quickly. I projected an average use of 60 per day...

Anybody have any insights as to what you burn on any given day with your koker?

Suggestions?

Thanks

DOn;t have a koker, but a Hyfire I, it can rip thru 60-80# easily when's it down below 15 degrees. I had 4.75 ton (Gone !) and working on a ton of Bagged right now I had to get. Probably have to pick up another ton by the end of the month.

Just do the math, 85 # X 13,000btus = 1,105,000btus / 24 hours = 46,041btus per hour. That is a great number for heating a 2,000 sq ft house! :)
