Senator McCain getting his revenge?

Why all of a sudden has McCain come out as poster boy for the feet dragging on the stimulis? He was right on top when it came to bailing out the Billionaire Bankers (who have hoarded the cash) and who knows where it went because them seem to forget how to account for it.....
Are this group of White Haired Big shots going show the "new kid" how its done in the "big town"?
Meanwhile the whole world economy is falling down around our ears.
This may be a revelation to some of you.When they announce the new Unemployment numbers like yesterday at 650,000 new claims ...That means there are about 10 Million new claims since last February...Not just 650,000 this month as one Moron tried to tell me today.

Granted there is a lot of stupid pet project BS but something has to be done soon or even some fat cats that think they are still ok will be on the otherside looking in and it may be sooner than they think

When you run for President, you should have to resign from the senate.
Bob Dole did. Might not have been the best campaigner, but he at least
had the class to quit one job before trying for another. The senate now
is just a group of worn out losers. Not a set of nads in the bunch.

I think things are getting fouled up .remember AGI.The one that was bailed out for $40 billion.
Well it turned out Bush handed them the 40 billion when they had 15 billion in bad loans.Someboby made a bundle on that deal.Mccain made no fuss about that.

I think that the wall street bail-out was nothing but hush money. A bank by it`s very nature at the bottom end has to account for every penny. Ask any teller. But at the top end they can lose billions & not be able to say where it went.

McCain and the republicans are doing exactly what they are supposed to do. Without them going through the bill and pointing out the pork Hollywood would have received millions to purchase new film, millions would have been spent on condoms etc. There are many provisions in this stimulus package that belong in the annual budget, not an emergency stimulus bill. If it takes an additional two or three weeks to get a bill that has some of the pork stripped out of it, so be it. I don't think the republican party is stupid enough to obstruct the stimulus bill just to block passage of any bill. That would be political suicide for that party.

I agree with you about Specter. As far as the stimulus goes I don't see it creating any sort of bubble. Those are created by over-investment in such things as RE, oil and other commodities.

What it may do, and I say may, is provide some quick temporary relief to the states but it will be at the expense of our national debt. The states are running out of money for unemployment benefits etc. Over a million people in PA are now without medical insurance. This one hits home for me. Both of my sons lost their medical insurance at the beginning of the year due to unemployment and underemployment. Fortunately they are both young and healthy so the chance of them getting jammed up is slim. There is a program in PA called adultbasic that the state runs that sells basic medical insurance to the unemployed at a discount. It's out of money and has a 6 month waiting list. So what happens. People without insurance go to the emergency room where they can't be denied treatment. How many of these freebies can the hospitals eat before they go bankrupt?

While I'm not thrilled with this stimulus, what's the alternative? Sit back and do nothing and let the entire economy collapse? It may anyway but at least we need to try to avert it.

I guess it's just my nature to go down swinging instead of laying down and whimpering that the world is out to get me.

I'm a little more optimistic. Let the economy work.
If the gov wants to backup some bad loans to give
people a little breathing room, that's fine. If they
spend some money finding out who goosed the moose,
that's fine too, but gov programs are slow bloated and
misdirected. They'll end up paying a lot of people on
gov doles to waste their lives doing nothing, then get
a great pension at your expense. We've made a lot of
mistakes in the last 30 years, it won't be fixed by
spending our way out. If that would work, I'd take the
credit card out for a joy ride.

We should go after the speculators, oil companys and all our representatives that allowed this to happen and prosecute all of them to the fullest they are the one that put us in this depression. Enron was the test it was handled by our incompetent government and what was the result nobody was held responsible except a couple token people. Now here we are allowing our incompetent government handle it again letting the democrats force a bill through which has NOTHING to do with fixing the economy. Name any part of this bill that will directly heal our economy today not years down the road. McCain is a weasel and he is a repulicrat and he is playing the system. I agree when senators run for president they can't campaign and do the job they were voted in for. If any of our representatives were any good none of them would force this useless bill through.
