Many of my views are more in line with TRADITIONAL Republican views than some far left Democratic ones..(pro death penalty, American jobs in America, take responsibility for your actions,pro RESPONSIBLE gun ownership rights etc)....but you guys have been pushing me away for many years now.
I have voted for many Republicans in the past (Ed Brooke-Senate.....Bill Weld-Governor, etc) & vote for the man, not the party. Open up a bit & some of us may actually consider voting for one of you guys!

So Pleeeeeeeeese tell me where's the money coming from. Up to this time again and again what you will not do is tell me where it's coming from. So think for yourselves and admit we are doing something that just don't make sense you can't use debt for collateral to acquire more debt. This is not a loan but I would like to know how to make money magically appear I could use a couple of skids of it too. The republicrats may be responsible for some of this debt and again you accuse them for sitting back and not voting on this porkulus bill but remember your demicans were in office before and during this fiasco so what right do you have to point fingers they all took part in it no matter what your opinion. The guilty party usually has a bucket full of excuses and it can't wait to hear them. By the way their both equally guilty. At least I'm willing to relent to that are you.

Look, let's not all get excited here. We have exactly two choices:

1. See the economy going in the tank and try to do something to stimulate it by borrowing.

2. See the economy going in the tank and allow the "free market" to take its course, i.e., do nothing.

The second is what Herbert Hoover and the boyz did from October 1929 to March 1933, resulting in the highest unemployment and deepest Depression in our country's history.

So pretty much everybody with a brain (including Dubya, with his half-brain, and a large group of Republicans, including their candidate for Prez) agreed, starting last fall, that doing nothing wasn't a very smart option, so $350 Billion went to the banks right away (sadly, with virtually no strings attached). Now that was both parties, boyz. Then there was a little election last November, in which the electorate agreed that we'd already tried Herbert Hoover's approach and we should do something different this time. So we now have a big stimulus law.

Sure there are giant risks. The deficit will balloon, the stimulation may not result in lasting business vitality in the private sector (that's why there's emphasis on new tech and new projects), and we may be merely postponing the inevitable.

But what's the alternative? That's where the GOP is falling woefully short right now. We know what they're against, for damn sure; but what are they for???

And, for those of you who think Spector, Snowe and Collins should be hung, try to remember what happened when Newt and the Contract with America boyz shut down the federal gov't back in 1995 or 1996. How'd that work out for ya's? (BTW, that very nearly happened yesterday in Kaaliforrrnia, where, but for a single GOP vote, tens of thousands of state workers would have lost their jobs immediately.)

I guess that's a good example of where we're going that makes sense to me. And by the way they also have had all the liberal laws that are being passed right now for the entire country and look how it worked for them. How many times have they been bailed out? And yes the federal government needs to to reigned in again they have overstepped their authority again and again and how did it hurt us to shut them down for a little while to force them to do what their supposed to do. And didn't unemployment remain at 25% during the next 8 years after Hoover?

You should dig a little deeper into history and tell us what Harding did in 1920 when the economy tanked worse than the thirties.
