I am in the market to buy a stoker stove for next winter. Is it common for any of the stove shops to have a end of season or summer sale worth waiting for?

With such high demand for these stoker stoves, there is a waiting list just to get one. So, I'd be very surprised if you find an end of season sale. Some people that ordered stoves have waited 6 months to a year or more to take delivery of one. Do your homework and choose the stove that fits your needs the best. They are all great stoves. The wait for the one you really want will be worth it.

As mentioned above there is huge demand for them and if oil didn't go down like it did your question would more likely be asking if you you expect one for delivery next fall at this point. The boiler manufacturers have a waiting list right now as do many others making the smaller hot air stokers. Demand has certainly decreased with oil going down but I wouldn't expect it to stay there, plan ahead if you plan to purchase and start looking now.

Some are here, some are there....that's the summer sale. I placed an order for my LL Econo 1 in October and was told end of January by my local stove shop. I was persistent and made a lot of calls to the individual stove shops throughout the northeast while I had my stove on order . I ended up calling at the right HOUR in order to get mine right away. I was told by Mike at M & M Stove Shop "Yeah I happen to have an extra Econo that Jerry through on my truck when I was down there today." Needless to say, I had a credit card # in his hand in less than 1 minute. It was total luck, I drove 5 hours to get Econo 1 the next day. 7am on a Sunday. Unbeatable service @ M&M Stoves out of Fulton, NY. :D (Shameless plug)

Mark

P.S.
I have a nice small stoker for sale

**Broken Link(s) Removed**it says $1197.96 but I will take $1100.00 ( Another shameless plug)

There seems to be a steady supply of stokers showing up on EBay recently. And I bet there will be quite a buyers' market on slightly used ones come spring from all the people who bought one in a panic thinking oil was going to stay high but no longer think it is worth the work.

You have that right. The ones selling now that oil is lower, will be the ones " :bang: " when oil goes back up. We all know it will, OPEC will see to that.

I'm surprised to see just how many stoker stoves are for sale on ebay. I wonder what's up with all the Alaska stove parts for sale on ebay? Anyway, there are some stoker stoves out there and available. It just may not be the one you want but, there are a lot of close second bests. With the waiting list and production maxed, maybe ebay may have just what your looking for.

Thanks coal berner. It's great to know there are well stocked and educated good dealers out there for your product. I've found that not all dealers are created equal. This Alaska dealer in Jonestown, Pa seems like the proactive educated dealer you want to find, just from all the stuff he's posted on ebay. Great find then for all you Alaska owners. Awesome outreaching on the dealers part. Good job! :)

I have visited several shops in PA in the last few days. Dealer in Boomsburg PA said that Harman is giving some type of $600 rebate on some stoves but not sure about the details. Visited a dealer in Annville PA today and was told the Magnum Stoker has a $400 instant rebate until the end off the month even on orders. He did say they had nothing in stock and not sure how long a wait there would be. That would not be a bad deal for a Magnum, but not sure if thats the one I want.
There is a nice keystoker bay window on ebay now as well.
Im just not sure what I want to do yet. I really liked the Leisure Line Pocono that I seen at Valley Stove shop, it seems like it would best fit my application.

Also if anyone is looking for a Alaska Channing III I found a place that has several in stock.
