Anyone on here try burning this stuff? I know someone who may be selling a couple ton of chestnut. Doesn't seem to burn as nice as the coal I have. My coal is from Centralia.

I use reading anthracite buckwheat coal and I love it. I wouldn't mind getting some but I'm in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The dealer 10 miles from me sells it. I have not tried it yet. Just got a supply of $Blaschak$. I have been thinking of getting a few bags to test.

My 'nut is allegedly Reading. I got it from a dealer in bulk and have to take his word for it's branding. No clue as to what breaker or mine it's from.

It seems to burn OK, but I've nothing to compare it to.

I have been burning Reading rice since October and have not had any complaints.

This week my delaer was out of Reading so I went to another dealer and bought some Blashak to tide me over until the Reading came in.

I did not see any great difference between the two but I only ran 12 bags of Blashak through the Keystoker.

I did notice that the Blashak did seem to be more uniform in size than the Reading.

I've been burning Reading pea, and a little nut. No issues with it, but its the only stuff I've ever burned, so I also have nothing to compare it to.

Centralia is not a brand or a coal mining company They are a coal sale Agent / Broker for 12 different coal companies
You will never know where or who's coal that you are burning . Out of the 12 companies there are only 5 good ones
worth buying coal from . The other 7 are either Refuse Coal Co. Or has Poor grade Anthracite Consider yourself Lucky that you got a good load of coal .

Me, too. Reading Nut - No complaints but the differences in piece size cause it to burn more like range coal. My dealer had Blaschak last time I went so I've been burnning that this week. The pieces ARE more uniform and burn a tad better in my Harman II - less ash as well.

I burned Blaschak nut coal before finding salvaged coal, of unknown brand, ofcourse. But the salvaged coal introduced me to larger coal, with pieces rangeing up to "potato size" which burned well in my Hitzer 55. When I ran out of the recent supply of salvaged coal I bought a ton of Reading stove size and it's burning fine. My comments would be the size range is broad, the bigger pieces are very big and there are fines which make it dirtier to handle than the Blaschak nut coal.

My experience has been that it burns fine but the ash is so chunky it will jam some stoves on shake down.

Thanks for pointing that out Coal Berner. I called my supplyer last night, and asked him what kind of coal he carries. He said he gets the coal from Centralia. I assumed it was Centralia coal. He also said that he always asks for the good stuff, which I thought was an odd statement. Now I know why he said that. Thanks for clearing that up.

I've used Reading this year and South Tomaqua from Centralia. If this is the quality of Coal we can expect in the future I will NOT burn coal. I've called Centralia and was told all their coal is surfaced mined and "It is what it is". We'll this is the major reason I've delayed purchasing a new stove. I'll burn wood in my VC and upgrade my Thermostats and Oil Boiler.

Try Blaschak for a week & you'll never go back to Reading. Blascak is available at Aubuchan hardware & other places)

I've burned both Blachak and Reading over the last 3 years and there are differences. Reading has not burned as well as Blachak until this year. This year's Reading burns much better and has cleaner ash. In past years it was not uncommon to have rocks and other items in the coal. If you buy bagged coal Reading bags are superior.
