Richard
How many tons did your truck hold? I remember seeing pics of it. The guy that delivered mine last summer had a truck that only held 4 ton. The box on it was real short. It kind of looked weird. He had to make three trips to fill my bin.

Wasn't me, the small one is 5 ton. The large one is seven.

Old red beat up truck? That was my cousin. you could put that ruck with a half a load on into my large one and lift it. Actually with a whole load but you wouldn't be legal anymore.

Take a full load at 22-23 ton to get the best 'delivery' prices.
You have to have the space and equipment to do so.
$130-160/ton at the breaker, $30-70/ton trucking and some profit to the dealer or cost for your equipment.
So using the Cape as a destination Superior coal would be $215/ton for 23 tons bulk. Penn coal bagged was $285/ton delivered.
Bulk is $280/ton picked up in the yard delivery price depends on distance travled and amount delivered.
$65/ton covers all costs involved in running the yard; tractor, scales, labor, rent and insurance.
Not much of a markup nor profit to be had.

Penn coal quoted me a price of $225 a ton for bagged rice w/ a $99 per ton trucking charge. $324 a ton total!! I can get it cheaper locally!

I pick mine up at a local dealer here for .14 a pound or $280 a ton. Delivery is another $40. I just get 12-1400 pounds a trip with my 1/2 ton truck. Good excercise unloading it.
