proper coal sizes for clayton furnaces

i have a clayton 1800 wood/coal warm air furnace. the manual states to use egg size coal. i currantly use stove coal(one size smaller)w/ huge success. these furnaces hate small coal. if your having burn problems use the biggest coal you can buy and you'll see a big improvement. again baro. damper is a must w/ these units.
