Squeak below gears on auger rod?

How do I remove the burner worm? I am trying to fix this problem from last season. It appears the burner worm does not spin freely. Is there an alignment issue between the burner and gear shaft? I have it disconnected from both ends, and can spin freely for about 1/2 a turn then it gets hard to spin. Must I unbolt the blower assembly? I'm done for tonight, but will work on it tomorrow.

You may have to remove the clutch assembly and "persuade" the end of the worm with a mallet. Naturally you don't want to mushroom the end of the auger.

Thanks Rob! I let some WD40 sit for a while, and then used a rubber mallot to tap it out. I did remove the gear assembly.

Here are some pictures. I assume I need at a minimum a new bushing? Does the hole in the burner pot look okay?

Where do I buy a bushing or new burner worm?

The worm bushing is trashed. I can't see the pot bushing because of all the coal fines in the way, but since you have it this far apart...I would replace it.

New burner worm with new bushing, new pot bushing, you should be all set. How do the burner plates look?

How would I replace the pot bushing? I'll have to look into buying these items. The plates look good, but I will post pictures later.

If you can pull the pot off the air tube, it is an easy job on the bench. A piece of 1/2" iron pipe should be about the right size to drive the old pot bushing into the center of the pot.

Wait a minute! How are you taking a picture of the pot bushing????? If you can look right at it like that you should be able to tap it out.

I reach way in with a small camera and take a bunch of pictures. Then I review the pictures, and only put the best ones on my favorite forum.

How do I remove the lower part of the burner pot? Is it called the Gooseneck? It appears there are 4 bolts and 2 screws on the blower inlet. Do I remove these bolts, and pull it out through the ash compartment? Do I have to replace any of the gaskets?

Where the pot mounts on the pipe coming from the blower housing, there should be two set screws. Spray the sh*t out of that joint with your favorite penetrating fluid, loosen the screws and attempt to pull the pot off the pipe. If your stoker has been together a while this may not be possible.

Where do you live? No offense, but it sounds like you may need to some guidance to get this job done.

I'm stuck. I got the metal pipe from the auger into the gooseneck off, but I can not get the burner pot off the pipe to the blower. I removed the 4 bolts from the gooseneck under the burner pot too, but can't get this to come off the burner pot.

Do I pull off the blower?

Any ideas on how to get this out so I can put in a new burner bushing in?

Its starting to get cold now. :-)

Put the pipe in from where you pulled out the auger tube and drive it out that way. Pound the new one in the same way.

I'll try that next. I wonder if the opening melted. I put the bolts back on holding the gooseneck onto the pot per PM advise. Here is picture from the blower side of the opening.I have to buy a longer 1/2 pipe tomorrow, and besides my back hurts now! :-)
