Bulk anthracite coal delivered to central NY

PostBy: coalforlife On: Mon Aug 27, 2012 4:13 pm

I have several friends in the Southern Cayuga County Area of central NY (approx 135 miles from Coal Country), and we all burn Rice anthracite coal.
We all get our coal from a local guy that sells stoves and coal up hear, the price is fair, considereing the area, and seems to be of average quality, but I'm not sure where he gets it from or what mine.
With so many of us burning coal, we are always talking about getting a tractor trailor load just dumped in a central location, and splitting it up from there. I believe the average tractor trailor load of bulk Rice should be around 21 tons or so. I've also heard tell of people buying a trailor load of rice coal already bagged. Bagged may cost a bit more, but would be easier to split up.

So my questions are as follows:

-Does anybody know of somebody that could deliver good quality Rice anthracite coal by the tracter trailor load to Southern Cayuga County (use zip
13071 for mileage). If so approximatly how many tons would it be?

- how could we be assured the quality is at least as good as what we have been using?

-Does anyboby know if I could get a load all bagged up?

-the last question (for now) is how much?

Thanks and let me know.

Not a tractor trailer load, but I get coal delivered from warners in candor at $280/ton bagged and oiled. Their shop is only 10 minutes further from your provided zip than it is from my house. Not sure how much you're paying, but I have seen some high prices up in Cayuga county advertised, might be worth a look to call over to candor.

I buy Bulk Rice Coal in Moravia for $240 per ton, (not delivered) and I think bagged is $275 per ton ( not delivered) The coal is good quality and always avialible.
There are so many close friends that burn coal, that we are always wondering about a tractor trailor load and how much it would cost to deleiver and dump in a central area, where we could split it up from there.
Based on the hassle of splitting it up, weighing it, borrowing a skid steer, unloading etc.... with the small cost advantage that we have found, its not worth the hassle!
I burn between 4.5 and 5 tons a year, and I only live 10 miles from Moravia. My bin is in such a location where I don't dare have it delivered becuase of the weight on the lawn (long story). So I just go down, get 1 ton of bulk at a time on my pickup and unload it myself. I have it down so its pretty ease!

Thanks
