Lighting up

I think I'll be lighting the stove tomarrow night. The weather is going to be in the thirties every night for the next week and I really hate hearing that damn oil furnace running. So that's it, this is me declaring that ill be lighting up, now ill return you to your regularly scheduled life.

Can you idle that stove low enough to not roast you in the afternoon? Today was a warm one here...just the heat from the basement was enough to make me open the windows.

I got it to idle around 225 when I did my test fire earlier and I didn't have everything as tight as I could have.
I also want to thank this board in general for helping me with getting to the point of being able to light up. From buying the stove in the early summer to this point everyone one was helpful with their knowledge offered to me, Thanks.

This forum is a meeting place for a great group of people. I have gotten a lot of the help from folks on here, and made some good friends along the way.

Well watching the weather out of Syracuse there is only two days this coming week that the temp is 63 for the high, we are 5* cooler than them on average so our high temps this week will be around 58*so I think I am with you and I think I'll strike that match tomorrow. :cheers:

My dad's old Hitzer 82 is getting hooked up today in my brother's new house...should be blue flames later today.

my Saey is purring right along this am. nice and toasty. Why anybody would use anything other than coal to heat with is beyond me. First year with it, always used wood. I wish I would have switched long ago.

It's 38* outside and 76* inside, my stove is just idling at 275 to maintain this temp and used about 1/4 of its capacity in12 hours. I shut the air almost all the way and closed the MPD a little bit, maybe 1/3 closed, just to see the adjustment affects it has to the temps. It's nice waking to a home with heated floors

Not me, there are several days this week they are saying low 70°'s during the day and high 30°'s at night. I am however running low on diesel. The stove is ready but I'm trying to hold out as long as possible.

OK--OK lookin at the outside thermo--41* at 12:30--weather idiots are calling for 50-- 60* highs most of this week & 30's lows--that means at LEAST 5* lower here on the hill--damn, you already said that George

ANYHOW---I'm lit--2- 1/2 -5 gal pails to do the whole shabang--hoppers full, thermo on 2--ash door vents closed, MPD at 7/8 closed--I'm going for the season unless I kill off a few more brain cells & screw up big time.

Not me,not yet.It was cool here this morning [51deg] and that forced me to look at the boiler.I fluttered around it and put it off for a bit,opting to lite the hand fired unit in the living room that runs on that other 4 letter word.Feels great in here now. Mike

It's 46 degrees right now and it's supposed to go down to 32 degrees here tonight. Since I'm running my boiler year round, my decision for tonight is: Do I turn on the thermostats, or don't I?
