# of Lobbyist

Do we really need all these lobbyist? Why not put some sort of limits like maybe only not for profit or something like that, look up the definition why can't the voters influence votes, I think that's the way it was meant to be. http://www.reuters.com/article/2009/09/ ... 2520090913 In one way or another we all end up paying for all these people in increased prices or some other way it's always the public that ends up footing the bill.

So your Czar would crack down on the NRA and hold his hand behind his back for the Unions to grease? As usual, you make a pitch that sounds soooo reasonable, but really is just a slap at our intelligence. Cant we all just get along? The system will not change even if it is pushed underground. And that goes for both parties.

That's odd Klook I reread my post & found no reference towards any one lobby. My thoughts were & are in general that as the common man does ultimately end up paying the brunt of the cost of all of this just maybe it has gotten way out of hand. I would think a new person would be somewhat intimated by all these lobbyist & a seasoned one would be seeing what all they could get with little regard towards the taxpayer or for that matter country. Once again just my thoughts in the right thread (I believe), I think they would tend to start thinking more of themselves & then would be working more for the lobbyist than the people.

Current law requires registered lobbyists to file quarterly reports about any contacts with lawmakers or government officials. But lobbyists do not have to report a contact if the meeting was initiated by someone else, not them.

Company chief executives also generally do not register as lobbyists, but often meet with lawmakers and government officials and clearly have a strong interest in affecting federal policy, he said.

I think it goes way beyond simply not needing them.
My opinion is that the current bunch of "lawmakers" are in government to become wealthy. They gain much of this wealth from the lobbyists and from carefully crafting laws that provide paths to wealth (ex. insider trading). In theory, we the voters change this situation by changing our representatives. In reality, our newly elected representatives simply climb on the gravy train once they get elected. Lobbyists will never go away and I believe their control over our government is one of the major reasons for our downward spiral as a nation. Nothing in Washington DC is done "for the good of the country" anymore.

I think there are some good people who run for the House and Senate and dislike the way things operate and would like to change them. The problem is, the system is so overwhelming for those few that really their hands are tied. With constituents calling on one side demanding government aid on this and that, lobbyists on the other side, and their own morals at work; I think they just give up.
