Chubby Grate Shaker Stuck

PostBy: DoubleD On: Sun Nov 04, 2012 11:50 am

Hey everybody. First coal burn of the season and already a problem. I tested the grate shaker prior to loading the Chubby now it appears to be stuck. It won't move even a little bit. Any one have any suggestions. It is currently loaded with coal and burning.
Thanks

You don't need to do anything right now.You only have unburnt coal jambing the grates.Let the stove burn at least 12 hrs, then begian to shake and reload.Just relax and enjoy the heat.

I agree with Dennis, don't try to force anything.. I've learned that the hard way by breaking grates :(

As everyone else has said. Let her burn and chances are the problem will take care of itself. Keep us posted!

My grates became stuck today as well so I just let her burn. Figured it was a piece of coal. Tried again a few hours later and BINGO. All was well. When I went to dump the ash I noticed there a bottle cap in the ash. Burnt and bent. So I don't know if the grate was stuck because of the bottle cap or from a piece of coal. Doesn't look like the grates bent the cap but I feel lucky, very lucky that it fell through the grates. :o

I couldn't read the brand of soda or beer the cap was from. In case any one is interested the bottle cap came from a bag of Kimmels NUT.
