There isn't room inside for one I could put one where the pipe goes out onto the front porch. There are a couple lengths of uninsulated
pipe before it goes back into the insulated pipe through the porch ceiling and roof. Do I really need one?
I have been thinking about it rather than alter the stove, my hvac guy said I can shorten the length of insulated pipe going through
the wall and I'll still be fine on clearances and that should give enough room to use an adjustable elbow.
Hi Pete, The Barometric Damper is there to limit the draft, usually to -.03 to -.05. It does not create or increase draft. It is mainly there to avoid wasting heat out the chimney and for safe operation. Any coal stove especially stokers should have one installed and properly adjusted. A lot of people get away without one but I cannot recommend not using one.
There is a whole thread just on baro's on this forum.
Thanks, Dave
