Customer up the street from me went for a ride this past weekend on this:

His buddy in front stopped. He didn't. He tried to swerve out of the way but still clipped him with his left rear wheel area. It also caused stress cracks above the rear wheel on the flat area and stress cracks on the right side in front of that wheel. I'm recommending replacement of the entire rear section. Only way to give this customer the repair it needs.

But in doing the replacemen, it will require some custom painting and replacement of the ornate pinstriping. Oh well ........

I'll be following up with additional pics of the entire repair and replacement because I know we all like pictures !!!!

I see alot of those "Two-wheel-in-front" trikes around here. Never rode one.

Me too. Those Can Am jobbers with the rotax V-twins. That's the way to design a 3 wheeler IMO.

toothy Ok, Ok. You can stick with the "antique trikes" and I'll go with my modern hopper in front trike. toothy

Those trikes are neat, but if I'm going to limit myself to two seats I'd prefer a Vette.

We see a lot with the two wheels in front, and with the two wheels in back. I keep wondering: which configuration is more stable?

This one is a Suzuki VL 800 frame.

I guess they remove the rear trailing arm and have at it.

Here's the manufacturer's website:

http://www.lehmantrikes.com/

This particular bike has the Tramp model package.

Plus the owner added a shitload of chrome to the front end. I think he said he spent $180 just for the front fender front and rear edge trim pieces.

Boys and their toys !!!!!!

Don't seem like a bad price for the basic in this day & age.

Holy crap.....................

Boy is that rear end piece pricey. Plus it needs a crate @ $120.00 + shipping of $275.00 to my door.............

Gonna put the estimate near $6k for this little incident........... But I guess that is why you have insurance if you're gonna drive 1.

Any way you slice it, still cheaper than that Can-Am Spyder. http://www.can-am.brp.com/ - All set with those - they get their stability from a NIGHTMAREISH labyrinth of computers, sensors and wiring. No thanks! I ride motorcycles to get away from all that horseshit! Gimme a real trike any day. ;)

If that was mine, I'd do the black duct-tape repair. $6. :D

I can't believe how much all your necessary tools and products cost Rick -- my buddy does that on the side, and just purchasing a pint of paint and everything we needed to do my RD350 cost a fortune! I couldn't believe it. I could afford it at the time though. Sandpaper is INSANE. It's quadroupled in price since I last bought it.

I think your estimate might be a little LOW!

They are pricy but then again so are Harleys for that matter. The design issue is a bit like comparing the Wright Brother's flyer to a Cessna, Piper, Beachcraft, etc.. The more modern designs look like the Wright flyer in reverse. There is a reason that they don't make 3 wheeler ATV's anymore and it ain't because they handled better.

Update:

So I HAD to mail the check to the local dealer BEFORE he would place the order for the rear tub piece.

So I mail the check on 11-16, dealer gets it by 11-19, deposits it 11-20, clears my bank on 11-21. So all should be good right ???

Lehman claims that the dealer has not placed the order....... :wtf: :mad3: :taz:

So I call dealer and the order placer is not there. Seems like he is on vacation until Tuesday 12-4.

I just know 1 thing............... that S.O.B. had better have a damn good explanation for me !!!!!!! I don't like being played and especially with my money !!!
