Please Help!! Hitzer 50-93

Here is a link to how I solved moving heat when I had my Hitzer. I had good results and burned the stove for a few years this way before switching to a stoker. The main reason I switched was so I could leave the stove for a couple of days and it would keep going.

Thanks qball. I will try something like that. Maybe the house is pressurized. I'll see what I can do with the cold air returns.

You did notice the 6" duct work--you're having to push way to much heat through the 8" & probably loosing half of it in the process.

Thanks for the help, guys. The problem was the bimetallic heat control knob. It kept getting stuck and not closing the flap. I fabricated a spin type draft control in the place where the flap was. This thing has kept temperature of 325-350 all day. No problems. I really appreciate everybody's kindness and willingness to help me.

cmk, outstanding post a pix, some of us other 50-93 users could duplicate this if the situation were to arise.

That flap should not stick open. Something needs to be tweaked. If the flap doesn't bind on the hinge, I'd adjust the magnet to help pull the flap closed.

Well, here it is. My new manual draft control. The stove cement is ugly but this setup is way more functional. I've got all air leaks sealed. I can dial the stove down to 250 degrees and keep my house at 72. Thanks, y'all.

Thanks Fred. My ash door slide leaked air like a seive. So I sealed it shut permanently as I never use it. I was talking with my boss, and he said ash buildup is your friend; keep some ash in there, and you'll have more control of airflow. It's working.

Way to go cmk. Improvisation is innovation. Looks sort of like forward to the past with the primary control.

I'm puzzled???? You already have manual air control in the front ash door. Why would you need two manual air controls. I agree with Rob R, somthing needed to be tweeked. Oliver

I would like to know where you got the spinner vent for your stove? Looks very nice is it St.St. or nickeled?
