Acorn Oak 170 Stove for sale

PostBy: RichF On: Sat Dec 01, 2012 10:44 am

Hello-I have an Acorn Oak 170 For Sale. I do not know the value of this stove. I need some help to properly price it. I am open to any reasonable offer. It has been sitting in my home unused for the past 20 years. It is 58 inches in height and 65 inches round. Measurements are approximate. I am located in Nassau County, New York 11545. Does anyone know what company made this stove and the approximate year they were made?

I think you should get the grates replaced, line the firepot, replace the windows, clean the stove up and install her in your home.

Once that is done and you see the money you save you will then wonder why you ever even considered selling this jewel of a stove! :D The money you will save every year will be more than a one time payday you would get selling the stove. Plus you get to hang out on this great forum and discuss your new addiction.... COAL!

Nice looking stove and it had a good grate setup. The bright work has been painted over but it is there. The urn is missing bits.

It could be used as a wood burner with any kind of round grate at the bottom of the fire box without repairing the coal grate, but the windows would get smoked up pretty fast.

I think it could bring $200 from someone willing to do the work on it. I have bought stoves in that category in much better shape for that price. If I were willing to refurbish it I would only pay half that.

Put it on craigslist for $300 and see what happens. You can also list it on this forum in the for sale section.

I like that cast iron elbow on the back, he'll I like the whole stove it would make a fun project but the nickel plating will cost a fortune to have done, ask me how I know

It takes the nice triangular style grates too.

Hard to come up with a maker with plants in four cities. My guess as to the year is 1905.
