Calling Wisconsin coal burners

Wondering if other coal burners in Wisconsin are also using a Harmon hand fired stove. I am about to install a Mark I today. With our weather and hills and valleys, just to know how your stove works. George

OK, maybe not a Harmon owner. Maybe another type of coal burner.

Welcome to the forum Storm.
I recommend you do a search on Harman because they've been discussed before, or ask any specific questions you have. The stove doesn't know where it is so don't limit yourself to Wisconsin users.

What you want to be concerned with, in the hills is to have a good tall chimney, without trees, rooflines or hills obstructing the normal westerly winds.
Also, with the Harman stoves, a Barometric damper is recommended by Harman to even out and control any excess draft. This makes controling the
heat output, coal consumption and longer burn time much easier.

Seach the site, do some reading on the 'Venting, chimneys etc' forum, lots to read about chimneys and dampers.

I have been looking at the various post on the Harman stoves. Very impressive topics. Thanx Greg L., Len, Fred. Coal is only a few dealers. Blackshak and Kimmy. Nut and stove size. $300 to 345 for 60, 40 to 50 lbs. George

I use Blaschak nut myself & no matter how I crunch the numbers, I'm saving money with the price I'm paying in my location compared to fuel oil--as far as continueing to do wood--my life goal is not do have a heart attack & die with my chain saw in my hand which I've used for 40 yrs

Fred, any chance you have any pictures of the old saw, I find them pretty interesting and always keep an eye out for one at a yard sale or something.
