100  That would have been a job to make all the casting patterns for it back in the day. Its really suprising what craftsmen were able to do.

Hello Everyone,

Here is some pics of my new boiler. Van Wert 400 with hot water coil theromosiphon to 80 gal. hot water tank. I previous had Harman SF260 hand fire. I bought boiler from Scottscoaled and had excellent buying experience. I'm heating 1600 sq. ft. well insulated ranch house with a water to air heat exchanger. I want to thank Scott and Rob for help with setting up boiler.Gooday! Joe

Nice install! The burn pot on those Van Wert stokers looks like it could withstand a nuclear blast.

Rob,

Thank you! I do like the Van wert's simple tank design. I had a couple of minor explosions with my harman SF260. Have you ever experienced a boom with EFM?

Never. The feed of coal and air is controlled, so no booms.

Hey Joe! Nice install. You did quite a bit of work since last time. How does that thermosiphon loop work? How hot does the tank get and what kind of recovery time are you getting? :)

Scott,

Thank you! The tank stays about same temp as boiler, now 140-150. I haven't run out of hot water yet :D I keep Rinnai tankless water heater on also in house set at 120. The tempered water coming in goes to cold inlet of tankless water heater at around 130 so Rinnai never fires up. :) . I ran 3/4 cooper from 1 inlet of coil to drain of HW tank, and the outlet of coil up to PRV valve of hot water. I put dielect union on both coil inlet, outlet and on both ends of water tank for easy removal.I have 2 PRV on inlet of coil and on top of tank where prv valve went into tank. Gooday! Joe

Of course!
Had to take it to the Technical Control Board to get a bloody expensive certificate that states its efficiency and the ammount of pollutants it emits, otherwise it´d be illegal to use it in Germany...

if anybody is wondering how to get heat from a coal stove from their basement upstairs, this is how to do it. This is a Hitzer 50-93. It heats 3400 sq ft with the outside temperature in the 20s, and using the stove's lowest heat setting.

Here's a picture of my newly acquired antique Parlor Stove. It is a Reading Stove Works Brilliant Sunshine.
I can not tell if this has been restored or not, but the finishes look to be original, and the unit seems to be complete.
The porcelain only has a couple small chips. The nickel plating that I just polished out is in great condition and now shines bright.
It would be great to obtain more information about this unit, as I have found very little through my research.
