1990s hand fired wont get to temp!! help

rr, what the hell's going on with that install???????

JL Cerase (DS Machine dealer) just left our house about 7pm. It took about a 15min to install down in my basement, unfortunatly it took an extra hour to remove and re-install hand shaker because it would not fit threw my narrow (29in) doorway in basement all together. Very nice people to work with! Free delivery and partial install. Plus they removed my old one into garage! I just had to supply some labor
I need to get 1 more fitting to complete chimney install, wanted to put all new in. Getting two ton of nut delivered tommorow, so hopefully I can get her fired off that evening, Cant wait to fire DS1600WH off!!

Finished stove pipe install and slowly fired it off, let it run about 300-400 for an hour and then cranked it up to 550 for 1/2 hr to break it in. Trying to burn paint smell away, have had windows in basement open entire time. Going to let it idle down to around 350 for the night. Dont no any other way to break it in? Wish me luck!
PS- This is with temp guage sitting on top back corner of stove.

That's fine and congrats on the new stove. May she serve you well. If you took it to 550 then you've removed any paint smell you were going to have.

How's she doin this AM?

I believe I have it (chain) adjusted well. Ran it last night with dial at 1 notch below #2 (1 1/2). With temps at night at low40s it was 71 in basement and 74-72 threw out house,(250deg. stove temp) very happy. Tommorow it is supposed to be warmer so I turned it to its lowest setting (1) and have a stove temp of 225-200 with basement at 69deg and upstairs staying at same temp, 74-72.
Damper is 90% closed and drafting well. I am also testing as to not load nor shake it for 24hrs at this setting. Will see in AM!
Overall very happy with stove!

Did not add coal or shake it for 36hrs with stove temps between 200-250deg. Very happy with stove, its only been in upper 30s at night with day time highs in mid 40s. So far so good, house is very comfortable
