Who is a puppet of whom?

Just go over the cliff. Stop prolonging the inevitable. The sooner the wheels come off the wagon, the sooner we can get around to fixing things.

Right On!
Sorry , I know it's gonna hurt alot now but ( and it will hurt me big time) the future of this country and our kids depend on real real solutions.

And if Sammy or Homecomfort think the Dem's have it they are sadly mistaken, becuase Socialism is only a precurser to it's big brother and Cuba as well as Russia have learned that lesson...just wish Our local dolts, Pelosi, Reid and Obamma would have taken an ecomonics course...in "grammer school".

It's "odd" ( :no2: ) that in our moment of crisis, we haven't heard anything about successful solutions.

Iceland holds some key lessons for nations trying to survive bailouts after the island’s approach to its rescue led to a “surprisingly” strong recovery, the International Monetary Fund’s mission chief to the country said.

Iceland refused to protect creditors in its banks, which failed in 2008 after their debts bloated to 10 times the size of the economy. The island’s subsequent decision to shield itself from a capital outflow by restricting currency movements allowed the government to ward off a speculative attack, cauterizing the economy’s hemorrhaging. That helped the authorities focus on supporting households and businesses.

Oh yeah, they did one more thing. :D

I hate to tell you, but; the doom of our Republic was sealed way back yonder in 19 and 13. The Federal Reserve has been the secret boss since then. You can thank that Democrat Wilson for that as for the, "temporary," income tax. The progressive cancer has steadily made advances since then. There were some respites during the 20's, 50's and the 80's but the monster of destruction has steadily pushed ahead.

"temporary," income tax.

Yeh Connecticut fell for that one too. This past spring we had the largest Tax increase in state history ( they even made it retro-active back to Jan. some folks did'nt get paychecks to cover their tax bill) a were sold on the idea of a balanced budget. LOL! We are now staring at a 415 Million hole that's expected to grow to 1B by next budget year.

Super Lib Gov. in charge of Dem. Super Majority Legislature. Kinda adds up don't it?

And we elected another Dem. Senator to DC too....they'll never learn becuase honestly they really beleive there is a big pot of money out there that will last forever and everything is just a story to be palyed out in political theater.

Not to worry ED, I think the fiscal cliff would be a lot less painful than some idiotic temp fix & kicking everything down the road again. It's all or nothing time these people (don't deserve to be called our rep.s) either have to finally do something to help the country or get out of the way.

My prediction is we will go over the cliff at least for a period of time. Some tax rates will go up, but those that have signed the Norquest pledge can then claim they voted to reduce taxes below those imposed by the "cliff" increases.

What's really necessary is a rational discussion about our convoluted tax code, it's objectives and how it's used to provide other than government revenue. Just too many, loop holes and favored causes. Personally I'd like to see an analysis on doing away with the no tax on employer supplied medical benefits. It's the most regressive tax benefit of all. The rich get the most benefit, buy the best medical insurance while the middle and poor class suffer without. Taxing employer provided benefits would be a profound change, but done right in a comprehensive way could be an answer to the health cost crisis.

I'm nowhere near an economic guru .... but it's plain as daylight to me that ...... if we taxed every single man, woman, & child at 100%, there STILL WOULD NOT BE ENOUGH to cover our MASSIVE debt!! Why can't a single politician see this?? Why do they continue to demonize the rich??

Washington D.C. has a SPENDING problem. NOT a revenue problem.

We will ultimately need to go over a far more substantial cliff than that imposed by current legislation. I say go over the present wimpy cliff, then prepare for the real cliff that lies ahead.

Time for a tax revoltion... tell employers to stop withholding your share of income tax. Send to off shore account. when they say you have to pay now, tell them where its at. Paid, via escrow, but not released for squandering till next budget is passed.

I like that idea. Probably the only way to get them to listen.

I never had the stones to do it. The best I could do was claim "Married-9" to limit the pain as much as possible. :)
