Wow, what a difference in coal brands

I have fought this stove of mine all winter, been burning or trying to burn Centralia pea coal. Which I know from reading on here is just a broker. Well they broker crap. I finally ran out of it, and just thought i was still in learning curve. I picked up 600 pounds of blackshak yesterday, added some when I got hom last night and I could not believe the difference. This stuff lit right up and boy did it crank the heat out. The other stuff never made heat like this. And Not nearly the ash this am on shakedown. I am just amazed. I was ready to pull this stove out and try something else.

Well your patience and trials were rewarded. Do a search and you will find many stories of how coal is different from even the same mine.

Reading up on it now. I even installed a draft inducer and have had to use it the whole time. I turned it off this am and have pretty little blue ladies dancing. With the other stuff, I would be begging it to burn now.

Blacshak white ash burns very nice and shakes down very nice too. No clinkers getting hung up in the firebox reducing total firebox capacity like you see with UAE red ash coal although the red ash will get hotter until the clinkers build up.
