I keep hearing that if we ban these guns we will be safer. So I just want to see where the problem lies.

I was raised with guns, and have never been without them. Ditto for my three children (who are all now adults). Our guns have never caused any problems. No one using them has ever caused any problems, or even imagined causing any problems. They are merely inanimate objects. They are used only for target shooting, clay birds, and hunting, with protection as a potential secondary function.
