Aren't spending bills supposed to originate in the House?

Oh well, it's not like they took an oath to uphold the Constitution or anything....

It's amazing how little regard those elected to serve us have for their own Constitution. The Supreme Court has it's collective head buried deep in the very partisan politics they are supposed to steer clear of (as justice can't be blind if politics are involved), so they will be sure to keep their heads in the sand over this one.

If I understand things right they aren't cutting spending they are actually adding to it :no1: . I just don't understand anymore. Our government is useless. Just bring on the revolution.

I think the Independents are very serious. It's the American public that isn't.

I believe they are serious, but I have still yet to see the unity.

How much unity could they have if they are independent? Maybe the American people should stop slavishly voting for the Left/Right paradigm?

Frankly, I advocate not voting at all. If the government governs at the consent of the governed, then we should withhold our consent if we don't like the job they are doing. Not hire the same guys or just different guys to do the same bad job.

I think many feel that if being Democrat or Republican was good enough for Mom and Dad, it's good enough for them.

The fiscal cliff salvation bill calls for $330 billion in new spending over the next decade, and $25 billion in cuts over the next decade (with only 2 of those billion in cuts to take place in 2013). I'm sure both sides will proclaim victory, but the truth of the matter is that without this bill we would have had real cuts. Real cuts are apparently not what the people desire.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/blog/ins ... -330-bill/

I'm willing to speculate that $330 billion in new spending over the next decade will in reality become multiple trillions of dollars in new government spending by the end of the next decade.

We'll see Larry. Nothing is actually done yet. Senate has passed but HR is looking "iffy".
