Whoa this topic got drifted eh? Pretty scarey article anyway. I just got a big TV and I sit there hypnotized all the time Sometimes it's downright offensive the garbage Hollyweird puts out these days. I prefer old shows from simpler times. It seems to me there is a serious moral decay going on.

Ok when you get me a union job do I have to stand around with my hands in my pockets with six other guys while one guy takes all day to do a ten minute job? Ahhh, never mind, I like to actually work.
Some of us are fiercly independant, personally I work for myself, I don't need any parasites biting off chunks of my income in return for a false sense of security.
When we stopped our house painting business, my buddy joined the painters union in NYC. He started train commuting into the city every day. After he worked a while with thuggish guys that painted over dust, cracks, did bad spackle work; he went back to work for himself.
Now bear in mind I'm just ranting here, but I always looked curiously at picket lines where guys were standing around with big inflatable rats rather than seek more gainful employment.

It's not just roads that those tax residuals consist of Jeff. And regardless of what it was like before,(roads) it's not like that now. They are paved and maintained by tax dollars. How about 911 or Police support, fire support, post office, you have town sewer? Ever fly in a plane? Air traffic control is paid for by taxes. Eat USDA inspected eggs meat cheese etc.....look at a weather report? The fact that you use US currency as legal tender.........The list goes on.........

Some may like the government doing everything,smaller would be better though. The Post Office isn't a real good example of the things the government provides for our tax dollars, aren't they always in the red,maybe if they cut out Saturdays and cut pay to a reasonable salaries more inline with private sector jobs. As far as using US currency as legal tender, that was not our choice it was democrat FDR (go figure )that took us off the gold standard in 1933 with a executive order. It forbid ownership of gold coin ,bullion,and gold certificates. Big government is BAD!

Really, The political theories these guys hold so near and dear would be more palletable if they weren't hopelessly dependant on all the things mentioned above as they expound on their conservatives views.
