Have you tried tractor supply?

http://www.tractorsupply.com/wood-heati ... PricingCmd

They come to a skinny end in the front for easy loading into small openings. They hold around 20lbs of nut.

Welcome to the FORUM. Your best bet would be to take an 8" piece of stove pipe, form/cut to your liking--braze/ rivet a handle set up that works for you---or get it made to your specs

I can't remember where it's at but one of the members of this forum made exactly what you describing. He took an 8 inch piece of black stove pipe, cut one end so it formed an oval scoop, drilled and bolted a piece of flat bar on the side for a handle.

Go to Freddy's Coffee House & PM him--he's a hell of a tin knocker amongst many other things, & I'd bet he can make anything you can draw. ;)
